I picked up the latest CD by Bryan Adams last weekend. I used to be a big BA fan in the early & mid 90's, back when he was in his prime, around the time "Welcome to the Neighborhood" came out. Since then, his work has slowly been going downhill. Even though he has come up with a few really really good songs lately, "The Best of Me" is one of my all time fav's, but overall, his work lately has been quite un-impressive. The same could be said about his new CD, Room Service. It's his first studio release in nearly 7 years and one would think that a talented guy like him can come up with a few good songs in that period. The CD sounds exactly like his last CD (On A Day Like Today). I won't say there are any bad songs on the CD, but then again, there aren't that many songs in there that will be on my favorite list 5 years from now. The opening track, "East Side Story" is so far, the best in my opinion. The title track "Room Service" and most other songs in the CD sound like any other BA song, with just different lyrics. Track #4 "Flying" sounds exactly like "Please Forgive Me" with a hint of "I'm Ready".
Overall, I give it 1 thumbs up. If you are a Bryan Adams fan, you won't be dissapointed (you may not be impressed either, but you won't be dissapointed).
