Shariah vs World Cup

Ok, its understandable that Islam Shariah law is against free speech, equal rights for women, using your brain, peace on earth etc etc, but why the hell is it against Football/Soccer??!!

From the article you linked to:

This has included in some parts a ban on cinemas and on broadcasts of World Cup games because they have carried advertisements for alcohol.

In other words, its not a ban against the World Cup / soccer; its a ban against presumably Satellite TV due to the 'goverment' there not having control of the airwaves / content.

You know, kind of like how Pakistan once used to ban Satellite cause you could get Indian TV on it, or how Saudi Arabia and neighbors used to ban Satellite (and I think still do officialy, correct me if I am wrong) cause you can get Al-Jazeera on it...

Good point. Because if they accidentally see a beer commercial on TV, their souls will eternally burn in hell

Lets not blame islam for something islamists do. Lets blame islamists for following any suggestion of any religious authority following outdated man-made man-propagated religious ideals.

PS - When the islamist are that dumb already... they really don't need any beer.

That was the point I was trying to make -- that it's not a ban based on something from Islam (which, for e.g., does make provisions for making sure alcohol is available to people in the community practicing religions other than Islam)...

Its a ban by a control-freak government who want to ban satellite tv due to not having control of the content, and using the alcohol in the ads as the pretext for the ban...
