I found an interesting article about what people in Arab countries are doing to get laid without the headaches that usually accompany a spouse (I said usually, not always!), while at the same time, circumventing the whole "have sex before marriage & burn in hell forever" clause in Islam. To top it all, they can do it for free! And I had to pay a hundred bucks at Nikah to buy my wife! Maybe I can get my $100 back if I can find the receipt (Yeah, my wife is really gonna kill me after reading this).
This whole thing reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where George couldn't get the condom out of the wrapper before it was "too late", imagine doing all of that AND running to the Imaam to get your marriage papers before you run out of steam! Man, you'll need to have one hell of a hard on... and I don't think those burqas help.

Sounds like a pre-nup agreement for an otherwise legal marriage...
Some of the articles are suggesting that this is common with a) the very young who are not wanting the full responsibilities of marriage, both male and female... b) older women who are widowed/divorced and finding it difficult to find a husband otherwise... and c) men with wifes using misyar to basically have on-the-side mistresses (remember, in Saudi, it is legal to have up to 4 wifes)
However, in all cases, it is still considered a full marriage -- complete with dowry, divorce, and inheritance requirements being the same as a regular marriage. The exception being that the pre-nup contract with the marriage states that the husband is not financially responsible for the wife, and doesn't have to provide shelter. The wife in signing the pre-nup, is agreeing to it.
As for my opinion -- lets just say I am not a fan of pre-nup agreements...
