The pic on the left was taken when I was in 10th grade, about 10 years ago, the pic on the right was taken last year. See any difference? Yeah, neither do I ;)

Were means past tense.
Are would mean you are still as ugly as you were.

Incidentally, there might be a corelation between intelligence dropping while looks get better... This needed grammer lesson is yet another example of this phenomena...
Actually, it's grammar, not grammer :) It seems that your intelligence is dropping without any positive effect on looks... sounds like somebody needs to come up with a new theory :)
It's called a typo... I will skip the definition, you can look it up...
It's not a typo if you make the same mistake over and over again...
It's a recurring typo. Similar to how I always spell recieved wrong... unlike most people, I don't like to fix my typos...
Or maybe, nobody ever told you about the backspace key on your keyboard!
